Keeping Up with the World

Aren’t we all lucky enough to exist in an era where we get to enjoy the most out of IT? To be more specific, the use of Internet and wireless network technologies in this generation allowed us to connect with people more meaningfully, share our experiences and memories with the world, and provided us with endless opportunities.

As we all know the Internet is a virtual world where endless data and information is available and can easily be accessed. Whenever we want to know about something, we always ask Google about it and with some keywords and a few clicks – we already have everything in front of us. To be honest, I, myself, have become quite dependent to it that I even consult my grammatical concerns on the web (an easier and faster alternative than going to a library and/or search about something from the books).

On the other hand, wireless network technologies such as the Bluetooth and Wi-fi connections made the transfer of electronic files easier. It also improved connectivity. Let’s consider wi-fi as an example. Through it, people can easily connect online and have access to their social media applications. The use of FB Messenger, Twitter, Instagram, etc., allowed us to better communicate not only with the people we know but with the world as well.

Internet Connectivity and the Organization

Most of the programs, projects, and activities being undertaken by our organization are implemented in the field. As such, improving on our communication channels has been a big challenge for us. With the use of Internet connectivity, however, we have identified various opportunities which we can take advantage of. Firstly, the process of communication dissemination became easier through Facebook Pages/Groups. Since almost all of us has FB accounts, important announcements and memorandums are posted online and can be accessed by the personnel anytime, anywhere. The same also applies in communicating with our clients, partner agencies, and stakeholders. Second, report submissions from the field and retrieval of the same through e-mail allows our organization to save on time and cost. Lastly, to advance our advocacies and promote awareness to the public, we utilize the use of social media platforms to better connect with our clients.

In this fast-changing world, we just have to keep up. Recognizing the power of Internet and wireless network technologies and identifying the appropriate opportunities on when to apply them will allow our organization to best serve our clients – the people.
